The A.E. Hull Pottery Company was started in 1905 in Ohio.Hull made many different items such as vases and planters in a lovely Matte finish until the mid 1980’s when they discontinued their operations. One of their most successful designs was the Little Red Riding Hood cookie jar which was patented in 1943. Hull owned the patent rights but it is believed that much of the little red riding hood whiteware (Undecorated) collection was sent to the Regal China Company, located in Antioch, Illinois, to be decorated. The Little Red Riding Hood cookie jar was so successful that a whole line of figural kitchenware items were added to their production. The Little Red Riding Hood items were produced from 1943 through the mid 1950’s.To go with their cookie jars they also produced such items as salt and pepper shakers, spice jars, butter dish, sugar dishes, canisters, teapots, creamers, cracker jars and a match safe, to name a few.One of the harder to find cookie jars is the Little Red Riding Hood Poinsettia and is highly desirable by many cookie jar collectors.
