Leeds Pottery Company

The Leeds Pottery Company was actually a Chicago based distributor that was licensed by Walt Disney Productions rather than a manufacturer.  Leeds was licensed by Walt Disney to use their characters in several pottery pieces.  Some of the characters were Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Dumbo, Professor Ludwig Von Drake, Thumper, Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, Goofy, Joe Carioca and several others.  They could shop around to get the best prices and time line from many different manufacturers.  They were in business from approximately 1944 to 1954. Throughout the years many different companies have been licensed for producing varied Disney products, including, cookie jars, salt and pepper shakers, banks, planters, figurines and many other items.  Some of these items were also decorated with gold trim and are highly sought after by the most advanced collectors.   Leeds pottery pieces were produced by many pottery companies such as, Ludiwici Celadon, American Pottery, American Bisque, Regal China and others.  Until further research is done someday, we can’t tell you which pieces were produced by which company. Leeds pottery products are highly sought after and enjoyed by many pottery and Disney collectors
