Here we have an Extremely Rare and Hard To Find Circa: 1888-1897 "Sidney Hollow Ware Co." #9 Cast Iron Tea Kettle, in the Extremely Hard To Find 114 to 123 Year Old Flat Bottom Design with Gate Mark. The outside of this cast iron tea kettle has been Factory Polished, a finish for which Sidney Hollow Ware was famous. There is a Raised, Sidney, cast on the lid and with an 9 incised on the bottom with the gate mark. This Tea Kettle has a Natural Dark Rich Cast Iron Patina that takes many many years of use to obtain.
There is some calcium (mineral deposits), rust and pitting on the inside; that is very common on a 114-123 Year Old Tea Kettle, but there are no holes. There is also some pitting on the very bottom outside, but most of the roughness is from the original casting. All of the outside, except the very bottom, is as Smooth As Can Be. The original porcelain knob appears to have been replaced with a newer one. This Tea Kettle is an Exceptional 114 to 123 Year Old Antique Decorator Piece and Extremely Sought After By The Most Advanced Collectors.
