Van Tellingen Salt & Pepper Shakers 

These Rare VAN TELLINGEN SNUGGLE-HUG SAILOR AND MERMAID Salt and Pepper Shakers are in "Good Condition" and very hard to find.  The Sailor Shaker has a small chip flake on the back of his right leg and a little factory roughness on his hat (please see photos) where as the Mermaid Shaker is in excellent condition. These snuggle-hug shakers are absolutely adorable and have 3/4 holes.  They are marked VANTELLINGEN on the back and PAT PEND on the bottom.  They were designed by Ruth Van Tellingen Bendel and produced by the Regal China Company.  The snuggle-hugs fit together in a hugging position and could be picked up together without a chance of dropping them.  The holes are on the same side so that both salt and pepper could be dispensed at the same time using only one hand.  The bottoms are so well balanced that it is almost impossible to knock them over.
